The #FollowFriday Series highlights today’s up-and-coming, active and all-around noteworthy Twitter accounts the AudioAcrobat staff deems worthy of following; while at the same time peering deeper into the soul(-cial media) of each account and providing a brief-yet-informative analysis.
Welcome back for the thirty-third #FollowFriday tweet / WordPress mashup of 2012 here on the AudioAcrobat Weblog!
If you’re on Facebook, we imagine that you’ve seen a constant stream of “currently listening”, “starred” and “added to” updates in your news feed, courtesy of friends using the popular music streaming service, Spotify. If you’re a developer, you may already be enjoying the fact that Spotify has made the newest version of their iOS application iOS 6 compatible…
In today’s post, we will dive deeper into the tweets of Swedish music streaming service, Spotify (@Spotify) and the Twitter accounts they have chosen to follow … a mirror, if you will, into the soul(-cial media) behind a company who offers over 18 million on-demand tracks and has enrolled over 20 million users world-wide.
Yep. That’s right, we just said it … “soulcial media”. We also said, “a company who offers over 18 million on-demand tracks and has enrolled over 20 million users world-wide” in the same sentence.

Conclusion
In summary, it looks as though @Spotify likes to follow A LOT of Twitter users. Over 17,000 to be exact. Though we weren’t able to start at the beginning of their following history (darn it twitter, stop timing out!), we were able to get through to somewhere in the middle before beginning our analysis, and what came out were the following results.
We see several trends in the accounts @Spotify follows, including users working in (digital) team environments who have skills in such areas as design, typography, music and anything Web-based. As expected, there is a wide range of interests and the list is sourced from many different countries, with England being one of the most prominent in our sample.
