The New AudioAcrobat Features and Design Series highlights new and upcoming features, add-on’s, services and general amazing-ness happening at AudioAcrobat. Readers will discover what is changing, how it might influence their strategies and the many advantages ‘change’ itself has to offer.
If you are a return reader at this here AudioAcrobat-flavored WordPress Weblog it is more than likely that you’ve noticed some major design changes to our site in the last couple of days, and more importantly an improved iPad-friendly mobile design and interface.
For those of you who have been wondering if these images are a prelude to a new AudioAcrobat.com site re-design and/or release of new features, the wait is over. Consider this your confirmation.
The screenshot seen at the top of this post was taken from the new AudioAcrobat.com home page, which is not yet but will soon be live, and does seem to hint at AudioAcrobat’s availability on your favorite smartphone… Coincidence? Not at all.
Perhaps you’ve even read Pt. I and/or Pt. II of the New AudioAcrobat Features and Design Series and have already discovered the first two new features to be announced. If so, our hats off to you … and here’s New Feature #3!
New Feature #3: Trash
We’d be lying if we said that there haven’t been times we’ve accidentally deleted something and desperately needed to retrieve the data. Sometimes, this data was even rendered inaccessible. You know — kaput, gone, finito — never coming back.
While those experiences were gut-wrenching at the time, it certainly helped put things in perspective concerning the overall user experience of AudioAcrobat … especially on the front of aiming to prevent our members from having a similar experience themselves.
Before we explore this new feature, we feel that it is important to note that all data contained within our member’s accounts is backed-up with multiple redundancy. What does this mean? It basically means that even if one or more disks fail (which every disk will on a long enough timeline), there are just as many if not more already written with the data, ready to take a fallen soldier’s place on the battlefield we call ‘the cloud’.
How rude of us. This post is supposed to be about NEW features, not already-existing ones!
The third feature presented in the New AudioAcrobat Features and Design Series brings about a bit of ‘trash talking’ if you know what we mean… If this new feature were a household item, it would be taken to the curb or composted. It’s TRASH! (Get it?)
When the new AudioAcrobat site launches, our members will now find an extremely useful ‘Undelete Media‘ tool found under ‘My Account‘ on the left side of their screens.
By simply placing a check mark in the box left of the deleted audio/video entry in the list and choosing ‘Undelete Selected Media‘ from the ‘Select An Action‘ drop-down menu, members now have the power to quickly and easily restore any recently deleted files.
While the files may not be there forever (deleted files are accessible for 60 calendar days), we feel that this new feature will put even more control in the hands of our members than ever before … as well it should be!
To remind our members that this feature now exists, we’ve chosen to add links to ‘Trash‘ under both the ‘Audio‘ and ‘Video‘ navigation sections on the site, allowing members quick access to the ‘Undelete Media’ tool immediately following any intentional (or accidental) deletion.
Is there a portion of the current (old) site that you feel could be made easier? Is there a feature that isn’t present but would make your life simpler? Let us know by submitting an email or tweeting us your feature request!
And now for a bit of shameless self-promotion…
