The For Musicians Series is sponsored by WomensRadio, a platform which educates women and all people in achieving a greater voice through online radio. Visit WomensRadio.com or follow @WomensRadio on Twitter for more.
The series highlights tips, tricks and techniques to aid the modern-day musician in crafting their sound, building a bigger fan base, increasing fan interaction and converting fans to sales.
We here at AudioAcrobat are always thinking up new ways for musicians to take advantage of the many features found within their accounts, and nothing gives us greater pleasure than placing these tools in the creative hands of today’s up-and-coming artists.
In today’s posting we will take our readers through our latest revelation, which explores the potential for artists and musicians to capture the excitement of their fans in a much more personal way than your average YouTube video shot on an iPhone.
We’re not saying that your fans won’t be able to use their iPhones to take part in today’s feature, they’ll simply be using them in a different way. Getting excited yet? Ready to find out what this ‘great idea’ of ours is? Here’s the scenario:
Your band just performed a show, you are at the merch table and the fans are swarming. They want to purchase CD’s, request autographs, get their picture taken and most of all … tell you how much they enjoyed the show.
Imagine now if you had a stack of business-type cards, they can be laminated and fancy if you like or simple VistaPrint (free) quality, either way; but just imagine, if these cards had a phone number on them.
If the number rang directly to your cell phone, you’d probably go crazy and change your number after an hour or two of incessant ringing. What if, instead, the number allowed your fans to enter a 4-digit extension in order to hear your voice, which then prompts the caller to share their favorite moments of your performance?
You’d quickly build up a cache of 100% original content that can be used in a variety of ways to help promote your unique take on the vast world of music.
Here are a couple ways we think artists such as yourself could use this feedback to attract new fans, give current fans a rekindled interest in your music and boost visibility on your site, blog and social networks:
- Build a ‘Fandom’ page on your website
- Add a ‘Fandom’ category to your blog
- Include your favorite ‘Fandom’ moments as segues on an upcoming song/album
- Combine multiple ‘Fandom’ moments with video clips for viral potential
- Tweet your favorite ‘Fandom’ moments
- Share ‘Fandom’ moments on Facebook
- Start a Tumblr blog to archive your favorite ‘Fandom’ moments
- Create a SurveyMonkey poll and discover your fan’s favorites
Not too bad of ideas, huh? Interested to find out how to get started using this feature? Its called ‘Guest Lines‘ and you can read all about it right HERE.
