Have you already established your Podcast? Are you looking to reach a greater audience on the web? How about placing your content within the the largest podcast directory in the world — iTunes?
While many readers may already be familiar with iTunes in the sense of purchasing music and audiobooks, importing their CD libraries and watching movies and music videos; many have yet to discover the undeniable benefits of syndicating their Podcast(s) to the iTunes publishing platform.
This cornucopia of benefits includes, but is in no way limited to the following:
- Automatic downloading/updating
- Competitive “Top Podcasts” charting system
- In-app audio/video preview
- Self-contained audio and video playback
- Sharing via Direct URL, .pcast file & OPML
In today’s posting, we will take our readers through the steps of syndicating their AudioAcrobat podcast to the iTunes podcasting platform in just a couple of quick and easy steps.
Quick Steps:
1. Login to your AudioAcrobat account
2. Click the blue “Podcasts” tab
3. Click the title of the Podcast you wish to syndicate
4. Copy Podcast RSS Feed URL
5. Open iTunes
Expanded Steps:
Login to your AudioAcrobat account
Click the blue “Podcasts” tab
Click the title of the Podcast you wish to syndicate
Copy Podcast RSS Feed URL
Open iTunes
Now that iTunes is open (version 10.0.1.22 will be referenced in today’s posting), our readers will want to scroll to the bottom of the iTunes Store and click “Podcasts” under the “Explore” heading.
Near the top-right side of iTunes, there will be the “Podcasts” heading, with several “Quick Links” listed beneath. To submit your Podcast, click “Submit a Podcast“.
After choosing to “Submit a Podcast”, iTunes will prompt our readers to paste the “Podcast Feed URL” which was copied from AudioAcrobat in Step 4 into the provided field. Once pasted, go ahead and click “Continue“.
If you have yet to sign-in to iTunes, the system will prompt you to do so now.
At this point, iTunes should have pulled up various information about your Podcast Feed, including Artwork, Name, Author, Short and Long Descriptions and Language. Our readers will be prompted to select a “Category” and mark whether or not the content is explicit. When satisfied with these settings, click “Submit“.
Now the fun part … waiting until iTunes reviews and approves your Podcast. This could take anywhere between 24 hours and a fortnight…
While waiting for the good news from iTunes, our readers might want to get ahead of the game by creating their next Podcast Episode, AudioNote Landing Page or Personalized Guest Line.
