Today, May 21st, while similar to May 16th is really quite different in that we’re now into the Gemini time of year, and as far as birthdays go, is a very special day in the world of music, as there are four musicians which will forever hold their own unique place in my heart and will be sharing their special day with you and I and one another.
In short, I am happy to be raising a glass to Biggie, Gaspard, Ronald and Fats on this fine day in mid-to-late May! Oops, I spilled my drink again…
The Notorious B.I.G. [1972]
90’s hip-hop, nor any decade thereafter would not have been the same without Christopher George Latore Wallace’s unforgettable lyrical contributions. Watch him evade helicopters at sea by speed boat, outrun sport bikes and hummers by land in a convertible and dance amongst women stacked on top of one another in the last music video he would ever participate in, “Hypnotize” (1997).
Gaspard Augé (Justice) [1979]
1/2 of the famed Parisian electro group Justice, Gaspard and his cohort Xavier de Rosnay made tsunami sized waves in 2007 with their debut album, †, and along with it came one of my all-time favorite music videos, “D.A.N.C.E.“, the lead single off the record. Enjoy watching the two coolest free-flowing, constantly evolving t-shirts ever conjured up in the video below.
Ronald Isley [1941]
As the lead singer of famed group The Isley Brothers, Ronald Isley is responsible for some of the greatest moments in modern music, and while still actively pursuing a musical career in 2013, this gem circa 1965 is literally dripping with a level of excitement missing from many acts of today. It just makes me want to SHOUT!

Fats Waller [1904]
If I were alive in 1943 when this hilarious Jazztime video was shot, I would certainly have liked to have been in the crowd. It was most definitely a different time and age, but I’m sure that when the drum solo kicked in I’d be dancing as wildly as the folks seen here…and probably spilling my drink.
